Congratulations

Congratulations are in order for Rev. Mechelle Massiah who was successful in her bid to be chosen as the next President of the Barbados District of the United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God (UPCAG).

The elections, which were only for the post of President, took place at the United Pentecostal Tabernacle, Goodland, Black Rock, St. Michael on January 14, 2012 from 10 am to 11:30 am.  Shortly thereafter, all votes were counted and it was subsequently announced that Rev. Massiah was the winner with 60 votes to beat out the other contender, Rev. Tyrone Waithe.

Both Pastors were given the opportunity to give a short speech with Rev. Waithe, using his turn to congratulate Rev. Massiah and to encourage the electorate/members of UPCAG to give her their full support.  Rev Massiah took her turn to thank the electorate for putting their faith in her with their votes. She also spoke at length about her misgivings at first when considering the bid for post but concluded by saying that she believed that God had a hand in the turn of events as they were.

It was also announced as well that Rev. Waithe is to be installed as Bishop so Congratulations also go out to him from Mayer's Road Pentecostal Lighthouse.
